Zakynthos stole our hearts – what an incredible island! We had an absolutely amazing time exploring Zakynthos. It’s a stunning island with so much natural beauty and charm. During our stay, we explored nearly every part of the island — from the north to the south, and from the eastern beaches to the western cliffs. Every area had its own unique character and breathtaking views. Some of the highlights for us included: • Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach – the iconic viewpoint from above was just as stunning as expected, and the beach itself was unforgettable. • Blue Caves in the north – we visited them by boat and were amazed by the color of the water and the incredible rock formations. • Gerakas and Dafni Beaches in the south – peaceful, unspoiled, and great for swimming and relaxing. • Porto Limnionas and Porto Roxa on the west coast – dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear water, and perfect spots for diving or snorkeling. • Xigia Beach with its natural sulfur springs – a unique and refreshing experience. • Laganas Bay – known for the turtles, with great opportunities to see loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) in their natural habitat. We also loved exploring the traditional villages, enjoying local tavernas with delicious Greek food, and driving through the lush, green hills of the interior. The island offers the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and authentic Greek culture. Zakynthos was truly a highlight of our trip to Greece, and we would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended to anyone looking for beautiful beaches, friendly locals, and unforgettable memories.

The introduction at the beginning was very informative and well done. You could really tell that the guide was passionate and motivated, he clearly enjoys his job and does it very well. We had a great tour and spent a wonderful day out on the sea. Everything was well organized and we truly had a beautiful time on the boat. What stood out the most was the guide’s commitment. Since we did not spot any turtles during the tour, he took us out again after we had already returned, just so we could see some turtles up close. That was incredibly kind and made the experience even more special. If you are planning to do a boat trip in Zakynthos, this is definitely the right place to go. Highly recommended

We had an amazing time on the boat!! Olga and her husband were beyond helpful and couldn’t have made this experience more easy and enjoyable. Both of us have never done this before but the way her and her husband helped us out made us feel like we’ve been doing this as pros! Will def do this again

Discover Greece by Sailboat

As the American novelist Henry Miller once said, “it takes a lifetime for someone to discover Greece, but it only takes an instance to fall in love with her”. With over 6000 islands to visit and a 10,000-mile-long coastline, Greece is a country that does not disappoint. Whether you’re interested in visiting rich archaeological sites; scuba-diving in refreshing clear waters or lounging around on pristine beaches, Greece has something for everyone. Rent a sailboat with Click&Boat to discover all the places that this beautiful country has to offer.

•Port of Naxoson the island of Naxos

Where to sail in Greece?

Since the dawn of time, Greece’s culture has been heavily influenced by the sea. There are countless destinations here to visit during your sailing holiday. Sailing favourites include:

The Cyclades Islands

This region is the most visited in the country. It is known for its whitewashed buildings, pristine beaches, hidden coves and hospitable locals. The most famous islands are Mykonos, known for its eclectic nightlife; and Santorini, for its stunning coastal views. If you fancy escaping the crowds, there are plenty of other islands to visit such as Paros, Naxos and Ios.

The Dodecanese Islands

Close to neighbouring Turkey, these islands are known for their seclusive beaches, ancient archaeological sites and Byzantine architecture. The most famous islands include Kos and Rhodes, but it is also recommend chartering a sailboat in Leros and Tilos.

The Ionian Islands

Situated in the northwest of Greece, this is the perfect place for an island-hopping holiday. These islands are known for their Venetian buildings, pine forests and award-winning beaches. Whether you are staying in Zakynthos, Corfu, Lefkada or one of the other four islands, this archipelago will guarantee a fantastic sailing experience.

What is there to see in Greece?

There are plenty of fantastic sailing areas in Greece, waiting to be discovered. There are many parts of the country which have become tourist hotspots, but there are still thousands of places which have remained unspoiled. Here is our ultimate guide for your next sailing holiday in Aphrodite’s waters.

Visit archaeological sites in the Cyclades

Only 20 minutes away from the party haven Mykonos, Delos is one of Greece’s best-kept secrets. The island, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990, boasts one of the richest and most important archaeological sites in the country. You could spend hours wandering around the exquisite ruins, which are considered to be the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis.

Dance away to ABBA in the Pelion region

For those of you who are fans of the Swedish musical group ABBA and have seen the film Mamma Mia, you will all know how special a holiday in Greece can be. But little did you know that the islands where the film takes place are very accessible to tourists, especially on a sailboat! If there is one thing that you should do, it should definitely be to sail along the coasts of Skiathosand Skopelos, blasting away all the famous hits which appeared in the film!

The volcanic island of Milos - Greece’s hidden gem

Mykonos, Santorini, Kos, Rhodes… there are so many islands to choose from! But Greece also has so much more to offer, including islands which have unspoiled beaches and authentic villages. A favourite island to visit is Milos. The island is by far one of the most beautiful in the country, yet still remains on the off-beaten track.

Set sail in the Saronic Gulf

Situated towards the southwest of Athens, the Saronic Gulf is full of surprises. Small islands with picturesque villages, rugged coves and white-sandy beaches are a few of the many sights to see here with your sailing yacht. This area is also one of the best in Greece for sailing, thanks to the neighbouring Attic mainland’s partial shelter from the summer Meltemi Wind.

What is the best time to go to Greece?

Greece’s ideal location in Southern Europe means that visitors can enjoy the sunshine and warm temperatures at most periods of the year. However, in the cooler months, the country is prone to more winds, meaning that the sailing conditions will not be the best. Ideally, it is recommended for you to rent a sailboat in Greece in June to October.

However, during the months of June, September and October specifically, it is cheaper than the peak Summer months and you will be able to escape the crowds.

Rent a sailboat with or without a skipper in Greece?

In Greece, you have the option to charter a sailboat with or without a skipper. Opting for a skipper for your sailing holiday can offer a range of advantages. When deciding whether to rent with or without a skipper on your sailing holiday in Greece, consider the following:

With Skipper:

•Experience the voyage without navigation concerns.
•Benefit from local expertise and insider recommendations.
•Relax and soak in the scenery while your skipper handles the helm.

Without Skipper:

•Explore at your own pace, charting your course.
•Enhance sailing skills and take on the challenge.
•Potentially lower overall cost by excluding skipper fees.

The cost of hiring a yacht with a skipper may vary depending on the type of boat you choose. Whether you're seeking a bareboat rental or a boat with a crew, Click&Boat has got you covered!
