Kriter was built in 1973 to compete in the first Whitbread Round the World Race, now called The Ocean Race (formerly Volvo Ocean Race). She was designed by famous French yacht designer Georges Auzepy-Brenneur and built by the well regards Nautic Saintonge Yard in Saujone, France. Her name stems from her sponsor, the French champagne company "Kriter". She arrived third in real time in the race and was afterwards refitted to be used as a pleasure yacht by her patron. After the race she sailed in the Mediterranean Sea and later also in the West Indies. Track was lost of her in the early 80's. She was found again in the early 2000's but had to be restored completely. After another 3 years of restoration works from 2019 to 2022 she's finally sailing again in the Mediterranean. She is our family home and accordingly treated with a lot of love. Kriter hosts comfortably 6-8 guests plus 2 crew members in three double, one triple and one single cabine. There are a total of three bathrooms. We'll be mostly sailing in South Sardinia and occasionally North Sardinia and South of Corse. Typical tour for daily rent: Starting from Porto Corallo, we'll arrive at Capo Ferrato or Villasimius visiting the coast and the attractive area. You can book day trips, weekends or entire weeks. A 5 Star sailing experience. Kriter is an elegant, roomy, comfortable sailboat, an ideal way to explore the beautiful Tyrrhenian Sea and marvellous eastern coastline. The boat itself has an interesting personality having finished 4th in a major sailing race, and since been restored and upgraded. There is more space than an average Beneteau or Bavaria, and everything works. It is not even slightly intimidating though because Emanuele is a highly experienced yacht skipper and navigator, and Emanuele and Konstanz know how to ensure that guests feel at home and at ease. Very good clear communication in advance of and during the voyage. Highly recommended.

The Kriter crew family are perfect hosts. Friendly, relaxed and accommodating. The Kriter itself is not only a legend and full of stories, but has been lovingly restored down to the last detail, so that you immediately feel at home. The pictures on this site don't really do the boat justice, but if you google it you'll quickly come to the sailing boat's homepage kriter.tv and get a better impression of the ship. Unfortunately we weren't so lucky with the weather this time, but we made the best of it and got a feeling for how great it is to sail with the Kriter when there's enough wind... we'd love to come back!
