We‘ve had a awesome day on Gilberts Boat and enjoyed it a lot. He does not only know a lot about the area around Toulon but also provided us with sailing knowledge and was a great teacher. We can really recommend booking him to have a nice swim in the hidden bays and say along.
We had a wonderful week because Gilbert knows the Var region like the back of his hand, and all the places to sleep, depending on the wind. It was a first for the five of us on a sailboat. His boat is very seaworthy but is showing its age. Gilbert isn't a great communicator, except when it comes to sharing his many anecdotes... with over 60 years of experience at sea all over the world.
Gilbert was the perfect skipper for finding the beautiful little anchorages a little off the beaten track. The boat sails well, and we participate in the maneuvers. The skipper adapts to our desires (more sailing? OK, more relaxing? OK...), he tells a few sailor's stories, doesn't ask questions, and also knows how to remain discreet. In terms of atmosphere, if we consider that there are two types of cruises: the luxurious, comfortable one that stops at the port every day to refuel, take a hot shower, etc., and the long-distance adventurer who saves on everything to "last the course" (water, energy, etc.), well, with Gilbert, we discover the long-distance adventurer version. Constantly saving on everything seems excessive for a short trip, and when you're 3 hours from a port to refuel if necessary... Beyond comfort, the downside is hygiene, cleanliness, and the general dilapidation of the equipment. If you are flexible about comfort, especially for short stays, and don't forget the excellent value for money, it works out well.
Gilbert welcomed us aboard his sailboat for 3 days. Even if the boat is not recent, it is comfortable, clean and seaworthy. We discovered some pretty places thanks to our skipper.
Gilbert is knowledgeable in sailing but also in exotic dishes. We spent 3 unforgettable days. Thank you Gilbert
Gilbert is an endearing person who knows how to handle his boat. You just have to understand the codes at the start and everything works. Authenticity, a few anecdotes with a little rum. trust the captain. NB: we do not talk to the captain when maneuvering ?
Good welcome and good experience of the sea.
Beautiful day.. very windy in the afternoon. But Gilles adapted to maintain the output. Such an instructive day Since we took part in the maneuvers and Gilles gave us a tour of the harbour. I recommend.
Two beautiful days spent with Gilbert. Real sea bass. Very experienced navigator who guided us to find great locations! Thank you for these two days. Boat very well maintained and very clean.
We had chosen Gilbert because he is a qualified instructor, with a view to learning the basics of navigation (he told us that with him it was better than with Macif). Unfortunately we have done nothing in technical terms, namely: Presentation of the boat: interior / exterior, use of winches and piano, marine terms, controls, engine. Mooring techniques: seamanship, use of fenders and hawsers. Maneuvers: handling under the engine, hoisting/trimming the sails, tacking, gybes. Navigation: basic notion, cartography, CRAS rule, instruments, rules of the road. Safety: basic rules, list and location of safety equipment, movement on board, reduction of sails, hoisting. Sailing technique: the different speeds, simple adjustment of the sails, following a course, stopping the ship. We are therefore a little disappointed with our stay, which could/should have been more formative.
Gilbert was a particularly efficient, very professional and particularly pedagogical instructor, knowing that my primary objective was to acquire the knowledge in order to become a skipper, I will most certainly renew the operation
Gilbert is a hell of a sea dog who will take you without firing a shot wherever you want. Not a corner of the Var coast is unknown to him or even the right time to go there The contact is rough sometimes but it is more in maneuvers and in marine communication that this happens Gilbert is not content with being an excellent skipper, he is also a very good cook and an excellent bartender who will make you caipirinhas on the rocks as an aperitif. A perfect sunny stay Thank you Gilbert
Awesome
Superb day between Anse Méjan and the open sea to sail a little
Gilbert is a good captain who welcomed us very well. By his great experience, the navigation was perfect. he took time to give us nautical information, made us participate in maneuvers. Very responsive to our expectations. We had a very good time.
4 very good days, the owner is accommodating, the only regret concerns the toilets which are a bit far when the boat is at the dock. To Do Again!
Gilbert's boat is in great condition for a 22 year old sailboat, we had a very pleasant weekend. It is perfectly equipped for navigation, and comfortable. Gilbert gives good advice and does not hesitate to share his experience.
