What can you see and do on a boat rental in Miami?

With Caribbean-like water, the south of Florida is a boat lover's paradise, and there’s so much to see and do that you’ll never be bored! Here are some of our suggestions for the top places to go and activities to do while on your Miami yacht charter.

Things to do around Miami:

  • Boat like a local. Hang out at famous sandbars like Peanut Island in Palm Beach, Nixon’s Sandbar in Key Biscayne, Haulover Sandbar in North Miami, Whale Harbour Sandbar and Elliot Key.
  • Dock’n’Dine in South Beach or try some of these options: Monty’s in Miami Beach, Red Fish Grill, Sea Spice and Shucker’s Bar & Grill.
  • Sail to The Bahamas, located only about 50 nautical miles off the coast of Florida, and visit a few of the 700 stunning islands!
  • Discover the Florida Keys! Go diving in Key Largo and check out “The Christ of the Abyss” statue located underwater. You can also go sport fishing in Islamorada, or walk around the “Conch Republic”.
  • Explore “The Venice of America,” Fort Lauderdale, and its 300 miles of waterways.
  • Boat to Coconut Grove, known as the “Sailing Capital of Miami.”
  • Head north and spend a relaxing day on the water in West Palm Beach.
  • With a motorboat, speed up and down Florida’s coast. Try your hand at water sports like wakeboarding, water skiing and tubing!

Things to do in Miami:

  • Walk around the Miami Design District.
  • Do some shopping and dining at the Bayside Marketplace.
  • Take a day trip and visit the alligators at the Everglades National Park
  • Check out Wynwood and its beautiful street art.
  • Visit the 1916 Italian-style villa, now known as the Vizcaya Museum and Garden.
  • Have a great time in Little Havana and get the feel for Cuban culture on Calle Ocho.
  • Take a stroll down Ocean Drive and admire the Art Deco architecture.
  • Grab a towel and sunbath at Miami Beach.

What is the best time to rent a boat in Miami?

Due to its tropical climate, Miami can be enjoyed year-round, but the best time for a yacht charter in Miami is from March to May when temperatures are warm but not scorching hot, and it isn’t overrun with tourists. But don’t worry, the water is still wonderful! Water temperatures can reach up to 30°C.

It’s best to avoid Miami in the winter months as that is the peak season, and the prices of boat rentals will be higher. Also, be advised that there is the possibility of tropical storms in the summer up until November.

Consider a skippered yacht charter in Miami

In Miami, Click&Boat offers many boat rental options with a skipper and/or crew. Of course, these are usually more expensive than bareboat charters however the higher price is worth it! With a captain, set sail at a slower pace on your own private boat. By having a local in your midst, you’ll have the opportunity to discover and enjoy hidden coves, remote anchorages and beautiful beaches that you might not have visited otherwise.

All there is left to do is to sit back and relax while the captain and crew take care of everything like navigating, docking and anchoring the vessel/ Your charter in Miami will be worry-free and one to remember!

What type of boat is best for a Miami yacht charter?

The type of boat that you choose for your sailing holiday in Miami will depend on the type of holiday you’re looking to have. If you will only be travelling for a few days, it’s best to choose a motorboat or a RIB, which are typically rented by the day. If you want to sail for a week or more you can opt for a more comfortable vessel such as a catamaran or yacht, which will include all of the amenities you need to accommodate family and friends. For a more authentic sailing adventure, choose a sailboat but be aware that they are more suited for experienced sailors as they are unstable vessels and tend to sway a lot on the water. Whichever type of vessel you’re looking for, Click&Boat is here to help you have the boat trip of a lifetime!

We cruised from Miami to Key West and back. Hawk's Cay was a nice stop. Key West was fabulous! They had not had 6 people sleep on this boat before, so bring a couple of extra pillows with you.
