Oakland Boat Hire with Click&Boat

Located near the city of San Francisco, Oakland is a must for your next sailing trip! Both cities share the famous San Francisco Bay, home to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. However, even though they are neighbors, when it comes to climate, Oakland remains mild all year due to consistent sunshine and the bay breeze. Whereas San Francisco tends to fluctuate between extremes a lot more.

When in Oakland, be sure to visit the Jack London District, Oakland's waterfront neighborhood. Here you will find a mix of fantastic restaurants and bars, lively events, and of course stunning scenic views of the bay. You can also visit some marinas, perhaps the home base of your next yacht charter in Oakland!

From Oakland, there are many sailing opportunities to try. Visit Angel Island where you can dock the boat and then hike to the top for amazing views. Or sail under the Bay Bridge for a unique perspective and continue to Clipper Cove at Treasure Island. It has one of the best-protected anchorages in the area and from the shoreline, you might be able to spot sea lions in the water!

Boating in Oakland…

If you are looking for countless day trip sailing options, the San Francisco Bay is the place to cruise. With a yacht charter in Oakland, you can sail along the picturesque landscapes that contrast the busy city skyline, which many claims to be the best sailing conditions in the world. Here are some of our recommendations:

  • Set sail for Alcatraz Island, once a notorious federal prison, and today, is one of San Francisco's most popular landmarks.
  • The Sausalito Houseboats are also a must-see. You can sail from downtown San Francisco to spend the day at this quaint waterfront town. Plan to anchor overnight in Richardson Bay, just off of Sausalito and you will also have an impressive view of the city in the distance!
  • For those who crave a little more adventure, try sailing to the Brothers Islands, just past the San Rafael Bridge. Or sail up the Napa Rivers and experience wine country by boat!
  • Charter a yacht and spend a long weekend or even a week at Santa Catalina Island. Fall in love with the Mediterranean-esque towns of Avalon or Two Harbors that offer plenty of dining options, shopping, and entertainment. By boat, you can moor in the bay and take advantage of sunbathing, snorkeling, and practicing water sports like wake surfing, wakeboarding, and water skiing.
  • Perhaps you can set out on a beach/town hopping adventure down the SoCal coast. Make a stop at Redondo Beach, see the sea lions, check out Newport Beach, and end up in San Diego. And if you’re a passionate angler, you will want to take an extra couple of days in San Diego for some fishing!
  • The Channel Islands are another can’t miss, and a true adventure if you are looking for a thrill.

When is the best time to rent a boat in Oakland?

Because of Oakland’s location, boating is an activity you can enjoy year-round due to plenty of sunshine and mild to warm temperatures! However, you can expect a lot more boaters out on the water during the late Spring (April), throughout the Summer, until early October.
